Check out the pricing chart below to get acquainted with the pricing structure.

For a limited time only (until 30th June 2016), Digi will be slashing the prices down and topping up the data upto 20GB for the hardcore RM 238 plan. Learn more about the plans and how to switch to Digi today here

Doubling down on data isn't the only thing that Digi is introducing with their new Postpaid plan for 2016, they are also unveiling what's called Internet Rollover which has been a pretty hot thing with US carriers in the past. This feature is activated for all the new Digi Postpaid plans and customers can check out their data usage through the myDigi app available for Android and iOS

The quota for rolling over unused internet quota varies from the plan but one caveat of this is that the data can only be rolled over for one month to another. And like I mentioned earlier, this feature is atuomaticelly turned on for all the new postpaid plans from Digi and requires no extra cost whatsoever.

Apple's iPad Pro is no doubt a big iPad but Samsung's Galaxy View is in a category of it's own. The Galaxy View is designed to be Samsung's vision for the Galaxy Note but for a tablet. Instead of predicting the future with big screen (which they already did), Samsung is preparing for the future when tablets are the size of computer monitors.

But what truly makes the Galaxy View stand apart from just about any other table in the market is that it has a frigging handle which also doubles as a kickstand to prop up the tablet for viewing content. In terms of hardware, sure you could do the 4 way multitasking like any other (modern) Samsung tablet, but the Galaxy View actually comes built in with a unique tiled layout designed to take advantage of the device's form factor.

Samsung Galaxy View Key Specification:

  • 18.4-inch 1080P display

UMobile introduces shared data with their new Hero Plus postpaid plan

UMobile is always looking to challenge what others are offering and this time around, they are introducing the ability to share data with other UMobile customers. How this works is that a principal line will need to be formed out of the Hero P70 plan which includes 7GB of data. And from there, up to 3 'member' lines can be added to the principal line to form a cumulative data cap of 16GB. The 'member' lines consists of the Share 50 plan which has 3GB of data.

This means that there will be a pool of 16GB of data that can be shared between 4 users and it does not restrict the use to an equal distribution between users. What this means is that the data cap is actively being shared between the users and one user can end up using more than the other.

Beyond being able to share data with up to 4 users, the Hero Plus plan from UMobile also comes with the usual perks like unlimited calls to all networks and you can share this plan with someone from RM 120 for a payment of RM 60 per month and that price goes down to RM 55 when you share it with 4 users. Microsoft Lumia 550 now available in Malaysia for RM 559

It is January already and Microsoft has yet to announce any concrete plans as to when the Windows 10 update will be rolling out to existing Lumias running Windows Phone 8.1. The update might not be here but an affordable option to try Microsoft's latest smartphone OS, the Lumia 550 is now available in Malaysia for a not to high price of RM 259.

The Microsoft Lumia 550 was spotted during the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL launch last month and back then it was exclusive to Digi business users but starting today (January 15), the Lumia 550 is available to everyone for only RM 559 inclusive of GST through Microsoft Authorized Resellers across the country.

Beyond the affordable price, the Lumia 550 is a pretty solid smartphone that runs the latest Windows 10 Mobile software and supports 4G LTE in Malaysia. The only downside of the Lumia 550 is it's not so perfect Snapdragon 210 CPU that is quad core but runs at only 1.1GHz but that should't be a problem for Windows 10 phones as the UI uses resources pretty efficiently. Check out my hands on look at the Lumia 550 here

Alongside the Lumia 550, Microsoft Malaysia is also announcing the availability of the Nokia 230 Dual SIM which is a series 40 feature phone that comes with a premium metal design and costs only RM 269. The Nokia 230 isn't super rich in features compared to the Lumia 550 but it does have an amazing 23 hours of talktime.

Microsoft Lumia 550 Key Specifications:

  • 4.7-inch 720P display
  • Snapdragon 210 CPU @ 1.1GHz
  • 1GB RAM
  • 5MP rear camera
  • 2MP front camera
  • 2,100mAh battery
  • 136.1 x 67.8 x 9.9mm
  • 141.9g
  • LTE
