Honor 5X with fingerprint scanner launches in Malaysia for RM 899

Huawei made some waves during CES 2016 a couple weeks back when they announced they will be bringing their lineup of smartphones to the US later this quarter. One of those devices is the Honor 5X which by Huawei's subsidiary company. But today, the company is launching the Honor 5X to the Malaysian market and the Honor 5X will be the perfect companion to the recently launched Honor Band Z1

Huawei Honor 5X Key Specifications:

  • 5.5-inch 1080P IPS display
  • Snapdragon 615 CPU @ 1.5GHz
  • 16GB memory + microSD slot
  • 2GB RAM
  • 13MP f2.0 rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • 151.3 x 76.3 x 8.2mm (158g)
  • dual SIM LTE
  • EMUI 3.1

What makes the new Honor 5X impressive is not just it's RM 899 price tag but it is also about the features that the device brings to the table. The premium metal build is one thing but the fingerprint scanner on the back is something that you don't often see on a device this price. Compared to the OnePlus X or the original OnePlus One, the Honor 5X looks like a steal both in terms of pricing and also what you physically get.
To round things up, the Honor 5X is also a dual SIM LTE device and unlike other competing dual SIM devices out there, the Honor 5X relies on a dedicated microSD card slot so you don't sacrifice the second SIM slot for extra storage.

Honor Malaysia will start selling the honor Band Z1 on 19 January for RM 259

Just about everyone is going into the wearable market and Huawei subsidiary, Honor which unveiled their first 'smartwatch' late last year says that it'll be coming to Malaysia early next week. The honor Band Z1 is mostly like all the fitness trackers out there, it'll track your steps, track your sleep and just like a fitbit, you'll be able to receive notifications from the iOS or Android device that the device is paired with.

honor Band Z1 Key Specifications:

  • 1.06-inch 128x128 OLED display
  • Cortex M4 STM32F411 CPU
  • 128KB RAM
  • 70mAh battery
  • iOS/Android
  • IP68 certification
  • 229.4 x 38 x 9.5mm
  • 25g

While this is not a high end wearable like the Huawei Wactch, it does come with a touch OLED display that is not something you see too much in this price point. Usually it's just button and a few simple LEDs. But the honor Band Z1 not only has a circular round display to make it look normal on your hands, the device itself is IP68 certified meaning you can bring it on to a swim and is rated to up to 10 metres of depth.

At just RM 259, the honor Band Z1 sounds like a pretty good deal compared to competing trackers from fitbit and misfit at the same price. Again, the honor Band Z1 will support both iOS and Android and will be offered in three colors which are white, khaki and black. Honor Malaysia will exclusively offer the honor Band Z1 next tuesday which is the 19th of January (2016) through their vmall.my online store at exactly 3.08PM. Probably an auspicious time of the day to start selling a wearable.
