Apple reveals pricing and availability for the iPad Pro 9.7-inch and iPhone SE in Malaysia

It was just a short week or two that Apple held their signature Spring event where they unveiled two new hardware offerings, the iPhone SE and the more sizeable 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Apple announced that the iPhone SE will be coming to over 110 countries by May 2016 and it looks like they have delivered as both these device are about to arrive in Malaysia.

Ahead of that, the Apple Malaysia online store has listed official pricings for both devices and the iPhone SE starts at just RM 1,949 and you can now own an iPad Pro for just RM 2,699. Make sure to top it up with the RM 469 Apple Pencil. So, if you fancy yourself some new Rose Gold Apple gear, head on over to the Apple Store to get yourself some new hardware

Apple's new 9.7-inch iPad Pro comes with a new True Tone Display


Alongside the brand new iPhone SE, Apple also took the opportunity to unveil it's brand new tablet offering which is the downsized iPad Pro. The new 9.7-inch iPad Pro (yeah, that's what Apple is calling it) packs all the features that came with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro into the size of a 9.7-inch iPad. Impressively, Apple managed to pack all the new features like the smart connector, a new 12MP iSight camera, 4 stereo speakers and a new optical stack into the exact same form factor that the iPad Air 2 came in. The downside is that there is a camera bump on the back.

The new 9.7-inch iPad Pro still comes with an impressive display that clocks in at 264 ppi but Apple is putting focus on the new display technology included with this regular sized iPad Pro. They are calling it True Tone Display technology and this hardware feature enables the iPad Pro's display to intelligently adapt to the surrounding lighting conditions. Apple says that this feature will help prevent glare and improve usage in all lighting conditions.

In terms of big features, that is about it for this new 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Unlike it's bigger 12.9-inch sibling, the smaller iPad Pro comes with a 12MP iSight camera that is seemingly similar to the one on the iPhone SE and iPhone 6S and Apple has also tossed in a TrueTone flash.

Starting at $599 for the 32GB model, and going way up to $1,029 for the 256GB model with cellular capabilities, the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro isn't as affordable as older 9.7-inch iPads but just remember that this iPad Pro will work with the $99 Apple Pencil and will be able to tap into the world of accessories with Apple's Smart Connector. Just like the new iPhone SE, Apple is also adding a Rose Gold option with the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

Apple's new 4-inch iPhone SE arrives on March 31 for $399

Apple has just concluded it's first presentation of 2016. As expected, one of the hardware products being announced this morning is Apple's newest 4-inch iPhone SE that packs the same great hardware that the iPhone 6S announced last fall came with. Just like the bigger 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6S, the new iPhone SE is powered by Apple's A9 processor with the M9 motion coprocessor.

Starting at just $399, the iPhone SE comes with signature iPhone features like TouchID which enables Apple Pay, the same great 12MP iSight camera capable of 4k video, hands free siri all in the form factor of the iPhone 5S design from 2013. No 3D touch on the new iPhone SE but it is pretty impressive that Apple managed to bring new life back to the iPhone 5S's design. 

In terms of availability, Apple will begin accepting orders for the iPhone SE starting this Thursday and the iPhone SE will be available to customers on March 31. Unlike the iPhone 5S, the new iPhone SE comes in 4 color options, the latest being the Rose Gold option introduced with the iPhone 6S. The 16GB iPhone SE starts at $399 (~RM 1,600) and goes up to $499 (~RM 2,000) for the 64GB model. Apple says that they plan to roll out the iPhone SE to over 110 countries by May 2016.

Apple announces March 21 event to "Loop you in"



Apple is always good a creating the suspense with the invites. For the first time this year, Apple will be holding their annual Spring (March) launch event at their headquarters in Cupertino. Last year, Apple announced the arrival of the Apple Watch and the futuristic 12-inch MacBook and according to reports published in the last few months, Apple is gearing up to unveil a brand new 4-inch iPhone supposedly called the iPhone SE and a new 9.7-inch iPad that will support iPad Pro features like the Apple Pencil and the accessory port.


The Apple event will be on March 21st 10:00AM (Malaysia time: March 22nd, 2AM) and expect Apple to also talk about updates to their software platforms (especially things that have to do with encryption) and we might even see some updates to the Mac lineup to include Intel's new Skylake processors. 9To5Mac reports that the devices being announced during this event will be available by the end of March.

Apple Watch officially launched in Malaysia, prices start at RM 1,599

Well, that was a little awkward. I just completed another article about the Apple Watch and here we go again. Anyways, Apple Malaysia has just published the official pricing for all the Apple Watch models. The Apple Watch was announced in March last year and has since then risen up to become the most popular wearable device despite being late to the game.

The Apple Watch is Apple's first wearable device and the watch comes in three versions, namely the Sport, Standard and Edition. Apple has been listing the Apple Watch as a 'coming soon' device since 2015 and today, the Apple Watch will officially go on sale in Malaysia for a starting price of RM 1,559 for the most basic Apple Watch sport which also includes the limited edition red strap that is specifically for the Chinese New Year celebrations this year. But basically, the pricing for the Apple Watch is actually pretty consistent with the ones in the US as you can see in our comparison last year. If you just want to get the downright cheapest Apple Watch for your iPhone (just remember, the Apple Watch will only work with an iPhone), then you can consider getting the Apple Watch sport which goes up to RM 1,849 for the larger 42mm version. If you want the Apple Watch with the sapphire glass screen, that'll weigh you down at least RM 2,499 for the most affordable one and prices will go up to RM 5,079 depending on which strap you choose.

Finally, the most surprising inclusion is the gold plated Apple Watch Edition which starts at a whopping RM 47,000 and goes all the way up to RM 80,000 if you fancy a strap with some 18K gold on it. Additionally, you can pimp up your Apple Watch with some first party bands from Apple which start at RM 249 for the Sport band and goes up to RM 2,049 for the Link bracelet. Apple announced a limited edition red and gold Apple Watch just for Chinese New Year


Ah, the Apple Watch. There has been ongoing reports that Apple will be announcing a successor to the first generation WatchOS device during the 1H 2016. But before that happens, it looks like Apple is ready to give the first generation Apple Watch a final push by making a limited edition version for Chinese New Year and also bringing it to Malaysia.

According to some leaked information obtained by MacRumors, Apple will be launching a limited edition PRODUCT(RED) Apple Watch Sport to the Asian market to celebrate that Chinese New Year celebrations. The source also mentioned that the limited edition Apple Watch will be available in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan and Singapore starting January 15 through February 22. This move by Apple is likely to expand the Apple Watch market during this festive season and is mainly fordone because China is a very important market to Apple right now.

The prices for the limited edition Apple Watch in red/gold will start at RM 1,559 for the 38mm and RM 1,849 for the 42mm version. Prices will go up to RM 2,749 if you opt to go with the 42mm Apple Watch with Steel case These price quotes are from the Singapore Apple Store and prices in Malaysia might vary. So, get yourself ready to get one of these red Apple Watch Sport in time for all those Chinese New Year #OOTD and we're not sure how 'limited' is this limited edition Apple Watch going to be.

Singapore's Apple Store to to be fully operated on Solar energy


Last week Apple's job postings confirmed the arrival of Southeast Asia's first Apple Store in Singapore which is slated to open in late 2016. The 15,000 sq ft Apple Store will be located at Knightsbridge mall in Orchard Road and will also be 100% powered by renewable energy according to statement released yesterday.

Apple has striked a deal with local developer Sunseap Group which will get the proper funding to complete their solar projects and thus provide clean renewable energy powered by the sunny weather for all of it's operations in Singapore. With a combination of rooftop solar panels placed on public and Apple owned facilities, the array of solar panels across Singapore is capable of generating up to 50MW of solar energy which is equivalent of powering 9,000 homes.

This deal with Sunseap Group also makes Apple the very first company to be operating fully through renewable energy and continues Apple's roadmap to becoming an environmental friendly company. Maybe Apple's next step is to open an Apple Store in Kuala Lumpur? Apple probably has to start looking for a Solar Energy company.

Apple's 12.9" iPad Pro is now available in 40 countries including Malaysia for RM 3,599


November 11th, dubbed Singles day in China, this day will be the biggest win for online shopping to date and what better way to celebrate by making the iPad Pro available. Yes, today Apple is finally making their largest iPad ever available to the masses after a two month wait. Apple's new and improved iPhone 6C is reportedly launching in September alongside the iPhone 6S


The master of technology leaks have spoken and according to his sources, Apple will be unveiling the iPhone 6C alongside the iPhone 6S (and 6S Plus) in September. While Apple has not officially sent out invites for the forthcoming iPhone event, reports are already locking down on a September 9 event.

While there is not much leaks on the iPhone 6C, the ones that have surfaced on the internet show the iPhone 6C being a small device. Being sized like the iPhone 5/5S, the new colorful iPhone offering from Apple will definitely be cheaper than the mainstream iPhones but there might be a possibility that Apple will be implementing some pretty impressive hardware into the new "affordable" iPhone.

As we already saw with the new 2015 iPod Touch, Apple managed to cram in the A8 processor from the iPhone 6 into a similarly sized device. That is all that I'm able to share at the moment, stay tuned in the coming weeks ahead as more information regarding Apple's new iPhone(s) emerge.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 launched in Malaysia, prices start at RM 1,699


We're just a week away from the official launch of Samsung's flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 5 but before that, Samsung Malaysia is making the relatively new Galaxy Tab S2 available in Malaysia. The tablet which was announced late last month is the sequel to the company's premium Galaxy Tab S tablet which had all the bells and whistles of a flagship android tablet.

This time around, Samsung kept the design relatively similar but the made changes to the overall thickness and weight and the new Galaxy Tab S2 is just 5.6mm thin on both the 8" and 9.7" models. The tablet itself is wrapped around a metal frame which makes it suitable for various day to day conditions. With those dimensions, Samsung is a winner in terms of sheer size when compared to other competing android tablet out there.

Well, the new Galaxy Tab S2 is not only made to outs Android tablet, Samsung built it to take some limelight away from Apple's iPad Air 2. The new Galaxy Tab S2 features a the iPad's 4:3 aspect ratio on both the 8" and 9.7" models which indicates why the width of the Tab S2 differs from it's predecessor. 

But, the new Galaxy Tab S2 is not only the slimmest tablet Samsung has ever produced, it's packs quite a lot of power under the hood. There is an unnamed octa-core processor (most likely exynos) on both the 8" and 9.7" models that is paired up with 3GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, a 2.1MP front facing camera, LTE support, 32/64GB of expandable memory and a QXGA (2048 x 1536) Sper AMOLED display on both models. 

Basically, the specification for both these devices are pretty similar, the only difference is of course the size of the tablet itself and the built in battery. The 8" Tab S2 has a 4,000mAh battery while the 9.7" Tab S2 comes with a 5,870mAh battery. All of this hardware runs on Android 5.0 lollipop with Samsung's TouchWiz UI and the Galaxy Tab S2 still uses Samsung's classic home button and dual capacitive keys. On a side note, the home button on both the 8" and 9.7" Galaxy Tab S2 also doubles as a fingerprint reader. 

Besides all of those technical specification, the Galaxy Tab S2 is still a pretty versatile new tablet and Samsung has bundled in 100GB of OneDrive storage with the purchase of the device and Microsoft Office Mobile application are also pre-loaded onto the device out of the box. Not to mention that Samsung is also preloading their Milk Music service and also the iflix app to provide 1 year's worth of unlimited video content. 

As for the price itself, Samsung will begin offering the Galaxy Tab S2 through their retail channels starting next Friday (August 14) for a starting price of RM 1,699 for the 8" Galaxy Tab S2 with 32GB of storage while the bigger 9.7" Galaxy Tab S2 with 32GB of storge will go for RM 1,999. Additionally, if you choose to purchase the Galaxy Tab S2 through Senheng, the will throw in a bluetooth speaker worth RM 129 for free.
